This Is The Night

My (unpublished) memoir tells the cautionary, coming-of-age tale of an ambitious young writer torn between two possible futures: one in which he is faithful to the God of his evangelical past, and one in which he is radically free to experience the world as his most authentic self. The book immerses readers on a journey of self-discovery inspired by the Beat generation but undertaken by a lapsed evangelical seminarian. The struggle—narrated by the young writer’s older, chastened self—is an invitation to wander in the tension between the two great gravities of American life: God and Self.
